Japanese picture dictionaries

Free-to-use visual dictionaries for students of Japanese as a second or other language. These student's dictionaries were designed for teaching Japanese vocabulary to kids, but they can also be helpful to adult students. Each animation or image has an audio button below for helping the student to build-up their listening comprehension skills. Illustrated dictionaries use hiragana and katakana (the Japanese phonetic alphabets) alongside rōmaji (romanized spelling of Japanese). The student can drill the Japanese vocabulary encountered in these visual dictionaries with our online Japanese flashcards, or can test their vocabulary retention with our practice games found on the Japanese learning quizzes index page.
