About the Tetum language:

The Tetum language is a member of the Malayo-Polynesian branch of the Austronesian family of languages. Tetum is spoken on the island of Timor, and is one of East Timor's two official languages. Around 500,000 speak Tetum. Tetum comes in two forms: a more indigenous form of the language, and a creole that also uses many Portuguese words.
