This is an index and reference page of materials for learning color words on the Digital Dialects language learning games website. The colors game was the first game to ever appear on Digital Dialects in 2007, though with several modifications and sound added since. Based on the retro 70s electronic game Simon. In this activity you will learn 11 color adjectives in the given language and then be tested with a fun quiz.

Instructions for the colors game

First, go through the interactive learning presentation (the page the link will take you to e.g. the French colors game). After clicking through and memorizing the 11 words choose either the game with audio (e.g. the French colors audio) or for quiet spaces or for classrooms where all the students might play the game at once, the game with text only (e.g. the French colors text). You will hear or see a word which you should then match to the corresponding color segment. If you get the answer wrong you will be shown the correct color. Some attention is required of the student in playing this game, as if they miss the word they won't be able to go back. The games without recorded voice will only give you the option of playing the game with text.

Using color adjectives in sentences

For the Dutch, English, French and Spanish languages we have created games where the student will need to use the color adjectives, along with numbers and nouns for creating basic sentences. A great way of learning sentence structure and how quantity and gender change the adjective. All sentence learning exercises come with audio.

About the Digital Dialects language learning site

Digital Dialects offers fun resources for learning over 80 different foreign languages.
