Denmark is located in southern Scandinavia, to the north of Germany. Denmark occupies the Jutland Peninsula as well as a number of islands to the east of the peninsular in the Baltic Sea, which are known as the Danish Archipelago. There are 443 islands in total, of which only 72 are inhabited. Nowhere in Denmark is more than 52 kms from the sea. The largest island is Zealand, which is where Copenhagen the capital is located. Denmark is generally quite flat, with some gently rolling hills in Jutland.

Finland is located in Northern Europe, with Russia bordering to the east, Sweden to the west, and a border with Norway to the north. About one third of Finland lies within the Arctic Circle. Finland has a low population density, with most Finnish people living in the southern low-lying part of the country. The center and northeastern part of the country is higher, and there are some mountains in the northwest. Finland is mostly forested and has around 56,000 lakes.

Only 1.2% of the land is used for food production. Two thirds of Iceland's population live in and around the capital  Reykjavik.

Sweden has around 1,000 lakes, and 69% of the country is covered with forest.
