Spain is located in southwestern Europe and comprises approximately 82% of the Iberian Peninsula. Spain is the second largest country in Western Europe after France. Spain has several large island territories in the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and two small territories in North Africa. Central Spain is on a plateau and Spain has several mountain ranges. The Pyrenees mountain range to the north form a natural barrier with France.
