About the Fijian language:

The Fijian language is one of the Malayo Polynesian languages, which are part of the wider Austronesian language group. Fijian is spoken mainly in the island country of Fiji where it one of the three national languages alongside English and Fiji Hindi. Around 350,000 people, mostly ethnic Fijians, speak Fijian as their first language. Almost the same number of people, mostly Fijian Indians and Chinese, speak Fijian as a second language. Standard Fijian comes from the island of Bau. Indians and Chinese Fijians mostly use a pidginized form of Fijian.
