How do you say the colours in the Spanish language?

  • red - rojo
  • black - negro
  • orange - naranja
  • yellow - amarillo
  • brown - marrón
  • green - verde
  • white - blanco
  • blue - azul
  • grey - gris
  • purple - púrpura (also you can say 'morado')
  • pink - rosa

Light and dark colours in Spanish language

Dark in Spanish is 'oscuro', and light is claro. For 'dark green you would say 'verde oscuro', 'light green' is 'verde claro'. However, in some cases its not just a matter of adding an adjective, but changing the entire word. For example light blue could be 'celeste' (or sky blue). You might say 'café' (coffee colour) for dark brown.
